Understanding the rules to the game of roulette is easy, but it is easier when you play online. With online roulette you are able to have rule books and any information you need open and available to you as you play, instead of having to constantly ask casino employees about rules. If you haven’t gotten around to mastering the rules quite yet, I’ll give a brief overview.

The game consists of a wheel with numbers 0-37 (or 38 some wheels vary) in the color red or black. The wheel is spun and a small ball is placed on the spinning wheel. This tosses the ball around randomly. Once the wheel stops turning the ball will have settled into a slot, the slot will have a color and number, the point of roulette is to guess where the ball will be after the wheel has stopped.

You will place your bet before the wheel has finished turning, if you guess where it will land correctly you will win money, the payout depends on what kind of bet you made. At some point in time casinos started putting two 0’s on their wheels instead of one. Whenever the ball lands on a 0 every player loses and the house takes in the bet. This is why it is so hard to win consistently at roulette. Stay away from tables with two 0’s if you want to increase your odds at winning.

There are two different kinds of bets, inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets are very specific and pay out very high, but the chances of winning are much lower. Outside bets are much easier to win but the payout isn’t impressive compared to the inside bets.

Inside bets are usually bets that the ball will land on a specific number or a small pool of numbers. Outside bets are usually bets that the ball will end up on a much wider amount of option, like the color red or the color black for example.
